While working for South East Water I was asked to help redesign their online service system 'PropertyConnect'.
I started by wireframing each step in the online applications process, submitting revision after revision. What we started to discover was how the application wasn’t user focused at all. The interface was clunky and difficult to navigate, and you had no idea what step you were on during the process.
Then I started to journey map and work through the application’s required processes and tried to simplify them. Eventually it all became too convoluted and the redesign was cancelled and the application taken back to the drawing board.
While the redesign was a failure, I considered the outcome of going back to the drawing board a win for the end user. The developers had clearly not seen them as the most important factor during the application’s development.
